Rest-of-Season Projections
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Falter spent last season as the Phillies' sixth starter and was needed in the rotation for roughly half the year, making 16 starts and four relief appearances. The results were perfectly respectable for the second-year lefty, as he finished the year with a 3.86 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 84 innings of work. He didn't provide much in the strikeout category, but his 21.2 K% was close enough to league average and paired well with his 4.9 BB%. Throwing that many strikes is a good thing, but allowing plenty of contact can be an issue at cozy Citizens Bank Park. His 1.7 HR/9 overall was poor, and that number spiked to 2.1 at home, leading to a 5.49 ERA. Falter's 31.7% groundball rate was sixth-lowest among pitchers who threw at least 80 innings, so don't expect those homer problems to disappear any time soon. Still, if he's able to win a rotation spot, his control is good enough to make him usable in the right spots, especially on the road. Read Past Outlooks
