Mitchell is a good athlete for a catcher and has above-average raw power. He looked like a three-true-outcomes slugger last season with a 30.4 percent strikeout rate and 17.0 percent walk rate. Analysis
Mitchell has been cleared to make his 2025 debut in the Midwest League after he broke his right wrist in late February and required surgery, which kept him on the shelf for the first three months of the season. The catching prospect received the green light to join Quad Cities after he slashed .286/.487/.464 with one home run and three stolen bases in 39 plate appearances during his rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Royals have received trade interest for Mitchell.

Coming off their first playoff berth last season since their World Series win in 2015, the Royals have already dipped their toes in the trade market by acquiring Adam Frazier from the Pirates. Kansas City has a 47-50 record and will likely need a strong start to the second half in order to justify a significant splash at the deadline, and that's the only type of trade Mitchell would be involved in. The 21-year-old catcher is one of the organization's top prospects but has spent most of this season on the injured list due to a fractured wrist. He was reinstated in early July and has gone 3-for-21 with a homer in his first five games with High-A Quad Cities.
