Enlow had a productive but not overly impressive season as a 20-year old at Low-A in 2019 and then showed promise in his first test of High-A. He increased his strikeout rate to 23.8% at Low-A, but had just a 17.5 K% at High-A. He was a bit young for his level and 2020 was shaping up to be a pivotal season, but he wasn't added to Minnesota's 60-man roster. He did join Minnesota's instructional league and was reportedly throwing in the mid-90s with his fastball. He does not have an elite fastball but his secondary pitches have potential and he repeats his mechanics reasonably well for a 6-foot-3, 170-pound pitcher. Enlow will need to add more strikeouts to have success at the higher levels. At age 22 and not having pitched above High-A, he'll need to make a strong initial impression to stay on track to reach the majors.
Enlow, a 2017 third-round draft pick who received first-round money, had another productive but not overly impressive season. He improved in his second stint at Low-A Cedar Rapids as he increased his strikeout rate to 23.8% and overall the estimators were more favorable than in 2018 (3.32 xFIP, 4.52 xFIP in 2018). He had a promising 3.38 ERA after being promoted to High-A Fort Myers, but with just a 17.5 K% and an unsustainable 5.3% HR/FB rate. Perhaps his peripheral stats will improve in his second tour of High-A, like they did at Low-A. At age 20, he was young for the level. He does not have an elite fastball but the secondaries have potential and he repeats his mechanics reasonably well for a 6-foot-3, 170-pound pitcher. Enlow will need to add more strikeouts to have success at the higher levels.
Enlow, a 2017 third-round draft pick who received first-round money, had a mediocre full-season debut, despite posting a 3.26 ERA. His 6.8 K/9 and 3.4 BB/9 did not match scouting reports that suggest he has mid-rotation upside. Enlow did miss time with both back and ankle injuries, and therefore failed to eclipse 100 innings. The case for Enlow is that his 6-foot-3, 170-pound frame should continue to mature, which could allow his 89-92 mph fastball to eventually become a mid-90s offering. His curveball is already seen as an above-average pitch, and he mixes in a mid-80s slider and a changeup that still needs a lot of work. On the bright side, his 45.9% groundball rate was a top-15 mark in the Midwest League, and he could improve on that rate if his command and velocity improve. If his strikeout rate spikes at High-A, he would be worth a flier in deeper dynasty leagues.
With the largest bonus pool in the 2017 draft, the Twins were able to get a lot done, cutting an under-slot deal with top pick Royce Lewis that allowed them to net Enlow, one of the top prep hurlers in the class, with the No. 76 pick and a $2 million bonus -- more than double the slot value. Enlow had a strong, albeit limited, professional debut. He only logged 20.1 innings over seven appearances, giving up runs in only four of those outings (1.33 ERA). As with many prized 18-year-olds, the team was careful with his initial pro workload. Most evaluators expect the projectable 6-foot-3 righty’s low-90s fastball to tick up as he grows into his frame. His curveball is already a plus pitch, so if he can add a little velocity, that would give him two plus offerings. Enlow’s athleticism leads to above-average projections on his command, so if his changeup comes along, all the makings of a No. 3 starter will be there.
