Peacock was bothered by a shoulder injury in 2019 that carried over to the 2020 campaign and ultimately limited him to only 2.1 innings before he was forced to undergo arthroscopic shoulder surgery. The injury derailed what had otherwise been a strong run on the mound for Peacock, as he had shown the ability to pitch well as both a starter and reliever. For example, during the 2019 campaign, Peacock pitched primarily out of the rotation and maintained a 4.12 ERA with 96 punchouts across 91.2 innings. One season earlier, he was a bullpen arm for the Astros, but posted a strong 3.46 ERA with the same number of strikeouts across 65 frames. Heading into 2021, Peacock remains a free agent, likely due to both a slow market and the lack of clarity of his health. Assuming he proves capable of staying on the mound, Peacock will serve as a valuable innings-eating pitcher regardless of his exact role.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

                  Could join club for ALCS
Peacock recently threw a simulated game and could be added to the Astros' roster if Houston reaches the ALCS, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
                  Analysis
Peacock compiled a 4.12 ERA in 23 games (15 appearances) during 2019 while striking out 9.4 batters per nine and walking just 3.0. The righty could sneak his way onto the roster if Houston advances past the Rays, which looks likely given its 2-0 lead.
