Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Ramos saw two brief runs of playing time in the majors last year as a 22-year-old, first in May, and again in September. He had a .447 OPS in 48 plate appearances during his first cup of coffee, but Ramos flashed some promise during his September call-up. He was unlucky (.222 BABIP) and only hit .208 in September, but Ramos had a .208 ISO, 10 percent walk rate and 23.3 percent strikeout rate while hitting all three of his home runs on the season during 60 plate appearances to close the year. He was essentially league average (99 wRC+) at the plate in September despite hitting just above the Mendoza Line, and he was hitting sixth in the lineup by the end of the year. While at Triple-A, the 6-foot-2 Cuban slashed .263/.339/.416 with eight home runs, six steals and a 20.8 percent strikeout rate in 64 games. Ramos is a third baseman by trade, but Josh Rojas and Miguel Vargas will likely enter the year ahead of him on the organizational depth chart. Read Past Outlooks

Knocks in two in first start
Ramos went 1-for-5 with a double and two RBI on Tuesday against the Twins.
Analysis
Ramos was recalled when rosters expanded Monday and was in the big-league lineup for the first time in 2025 on Tuesday. He struck out three times but also delivered a two-RBI double in the fifth inning. Ramos figures to be primarily a bench bat, but he could get mixed in against right-handed starters while Miguel Vargas (wrist) is sidelined.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
A potentially above-average defensive third baseman with a chance for above-average power and an above-average hit tool, Ramos is Chicago's long-term answer at the hot corner. He missed the first six weeks of the season with a groin injury and managed 18 home runs in 100 games across Double-A and the Arizona Fall League to close the year. Ramos hit .272 at Double-A and .267 in the AFL while striking out 21.5 percent of the time at those two levels as a 21-year-old. It's not the most explosive tool set, but Ramos has a chance to be an everyday compiler who contributes positively in four of the five roto categories (he's not much of a base stealer despite decent athleticism). Yoan Moncada is owed $14 million for 2024 with a club option for 2025, but if he is gets traded or injured at some point this season, Ramos could get the call and never look back.

Not yet throwing in camp
Ramos (elbow) said Wednesday that he's continued to hit and field grounders during the White Sox's full-squad workouts, but he has yet to begin a throwing program, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. "Right now I'm feeling pretty good. I've been hitting. I've been doing pretty much everything," Ramos said. "The only thing I haven't been doing is throwing for now."
