Bryce Eldridge

20-Year-Old First Baseman1B
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Eldridge got better as the year went on, even as he faced more advanced competition. A former two-way prospect who now projects as the Giants' first baseman of the future, Eldridge hit 10 homers with a 26.6 percent strikeout rate and a .263 average in 51 games at Single-A before getting promoted to High-A in late June. He hit .335 (.404 BABIP) with 12 homers and a 24.2 percent strikeout rate in 48 games at High-A, where pitchers started to pay him more respect, as he more than doubled his walk rate from 7.4 percent at Single-A to 16.3 percent at High-A. He was promoted to Double-A in early September and to Triple-A after the Double-A season wrapped in mid-September, but just because he climbed to the highest level of the minors doesn't mean he'll return there at the beginning of 2025. Eldridge turned 20 in October and should head to Double-A to start the year. Despite a 6-foot-7 frame, Eldridge made an acceptable amount of contact (over 70 percent until he got to Triple-A) for a very young slugger with at least 70-grade raw power. The lefty-hitting Eldridge logged just a .588 OPS with a 29.6 percent strikeout rate in 125 plate appearances against same-handed pitchers, but he's enough of a prized prospect (No. 16 overall pick in 2023) that he won't be platooned long term unless he doesn't make any improvements. Called up, serving as DH
1BSan Francisco Giants
September 15, 2025
The Giants selected Eldridge's contract from Triple-A Sacramento, and he will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth against the Diamondbacks on Monday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Analysis
The move paves the way for Eldridge to make his major-league debut in Monday's series opener. The 21-year-old was promoted to Triple-A in early June and has since slashed .249/.322/.514 with one steal, 31 runs, 13 doubles, 18 home runs and 63 RBI across 286 plate appearances. He'll serve as the DH in his debut, but Eldridge should also work on the strong side of the platoon at first base with Wilmer Flores across the final two weeks of the regular season.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Arguably the most intriguing two-way player from the prep ranks since Masyn Winn in 2020, Eldridge is a left-handed slugger/right-handed pitcher whom the Giants selected with the 16th overall pick in a loaded draft class. Like Winn, Eldridge figures to scrap pitching shortly after entering pro ball. Given his massive frame (6-foot-7, 223 pounds) as a teenager, Eldridge will likely outgrow right field and end up at first base/designated hitter. He slashed .294/.400/.505 with six home runs, a 26.2 percent strikeout rate and a 15.4 percent walk rate in 31 games across the Arizona Complex League and Single-A. Eldridge could end up with 70-grade power if he can keep the strikeouts in a manageable range. It's a pretty clear three-true outcomes profile if everything works, as it would be unrealistic to expect such a massive, young slugger to not have some holes in his swing for big-league pitchers to eventually exploit.

Staying at 1B after Devers trade

June 17, 2025
President of baseball operations Buster Posey said Tuesday that the Giants plan to continue developing Eldridge as a first baseman after San Francisco acquired Rafael Devers from the Red Sox on Sunday, Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. "I see [Eldridge's] development path as the same," Posey said during Devers' introductory press conference. "He's going to keep playing first, keep developing at the plate. It's a conversation Raffy and I have had already about Bryce and the future we potentially see him having. Par for the course for him, going forward."

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could debut in 2025
1BSan Francisco Giants
November 10, 2024
According to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Giants have some optimism that Eldridge will make his MLB debut in 2025 and quickly entrench himself at first base.
Analysis
The 2023 first-round pick is the organization's top prospect and ascended from the Single-A level to Triple-A during the 2024 campaign. Eldridge split most of the season between Single-A and High-A, and he had an .890 OPS with 23 homers and six steals in 116 games across all levels. He seems unlikely to crack the Opening Day roster given his lack of experience in the upper minors, but his MLB debut could come sooner than later with a strong showing in spring training.
