Cam Caminiti

Caminiti was slowed early in the season by forearm tendinitis, making his debut in May and requiring about six weeks worth of action to knock the rust off. From mid-June on, Caminiti logged a 1.65 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 67:21 K:BB in 49 innings across 11 starts at Single-A. All told, he had a dominant 21.0 K-BB% and 52.4 percent groundball rate while building up to a career-high 70 innings. The 6-foot-2 lefty, who Atlanta selected 24th overall out of high school in 2024, started throwing five-plus frames for the first time over his final five starts of the season. During that stretch, walks were an issue (13 walks in 26 innings), but he held his dominant strikeout stuff deep into starts, fanning 32 batters. His 93-94 mph fastball has great shape and touches 97 mph already, so it should be a monster pitch by the time he reaches the majors. Caminiti also boasts an above-average weapon for lefties and righties (slider and changeup). His recent injury history is more concerning than his elevated walk rates, as pitchers his age and size typically improve their control between ages 19 and 21-22, when Caminiti could be ready for the show.
