2023 Projections
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Jorge's bat was trending up when he signed with the Reds for just under $500K as part of the 2020 J-2 class that had to wait until January of 2021 to sign. He dominated in the Dominican Summer League (173 wRC+) in 2021 and that success carried over in the Arizona Complex League (151 wRC+) last season, although his K% went from 17.0% to 26.6%. Jorge may have been a little too patient, but his 65.5 Contact% wasn't great either. We know he can get the ball in the air (38.2 GB%) and put his plus speed to work on the bases (54-for-63 on SB attempts in pro ball), but we should learn more about his ability to hit for average in his full-season debut. Signs with Reds
Jorge signed with the Reds for $495,000 on Friday, Baseball America reports.
ANALYSIS
A lefty-hitting second baseman from the Dominican Republic, Jorge is on the shorter side, but he packs a punch at the plate. He is also at least a plus runner and his hit tool is trending up.
