Farm Futures: First-Year Player Draft Tiers
June 23, 2020

2021 Fantasy Outlook
The No. 23 overall pick in 2020, Tucker has steadily evolved and improved over the past calendar year. He added weight and successfully remade his swing prior to the draft, in an effort to unlock power -- his swing plane used to be pretty level. Prior to the adjustments, he projected to be at least an above-average hitter, and now he has a chance to develop above-average power as well. The younger brother of Pirates shortstop Cole Tucker, Carson is a good athlete who should stick at shortstop long term. In addition to reports of an improved swing and added strength, Tucker also reportedly got faster -- he used to grade out as a 50 or 55 runner and could be a plus runner now. If these reported improvements are legitimate, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound shortstop could have played his way into the top half of the first round last year if he had been able to play out his final season as an Arizona prep.
