Signs in Mexican League
Ynoa signed a contract with the Leones De Yucatan of the Mexican League on Monday.
Analysis
Ynoa was cut loose by the Twins in April after allowing five earned runs in 4.1 innings at Triple-A St. Paul. The 26-year-old will now continue his playing career south of the border and could get looks from MLB organizations again if his time in Mexico goes well.

After missing the 2023 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Ynoa opened the 2024 campaign at full health and occupied a spot in Triple-A Gwinnett's rotation, only to be shut down in mid-April with elbow inflammation before he hurt his shoulder in August during a rehab assignment. Ynoa was signed out of the Dominican Republic by the Twins at age 16, so he returns to a familiar franchise. He could be a nice depth piece for the Twins if he can return to full healthy this spring. The right-hander showed a lot of promise as a 23-year-old rookie in 2021 when he turned in a 20.2 K-BB% over 91 innings, but he hasn't been able to stay healthy for any stretch since.
