Jackson Ferris

The Dodgers seemingly have an endless supply of starting pitching depth heading into 2025, and Ferris figures to spend most or all of the season pitching in the upper minors. He reached Double-A last year as a 20-year-old, although he was much more impressive through 20 starts for High-A Great Lakes, logging a 3.39 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 119 strikeouts in 98.1 innings. His strikeout rate dipped from 29.2 percent at High-A to 21.3 percent at Double-A and his walk rates have always been in the 10-14 percent range, so there's still refinement needed. The 6-foot-4 southpaw leans on his plus fastball and plus slider while also mixing in a potentially above-average curveball and seldom-used fourth and fifth pitches in his changeup and cutter. He threw 56 innings at Single-A in 2023 before getting traded from the Cubs to the Dodgers along with outfielder Zyhir Hope in the offseason deal that sent Michael Busch to Chicago. Ferris built up to 126.2 innings and doesn't turn 21 until January, so he's ahead of schedule. If he can cut the walks slightly, he has No. 3 starter upside.
