Signs MiLB pact
San Francisco signed Reetz to a minor-league contract Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Reetz opted out of his minor-league contract with the Royals after hitting .274/.349/.526 with four homers in 106 plate appearances with Triple-A Omaha. He provides the Giants with some minor-league depth at the backstop position. He would need to be added to the 40-man roster in order to join the major-league roster.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Joining 40-man
Reetz is expected to be added to Milwaukee's 40-man roster to provide more depth at catcher, reports Robert Murray of FanSided.com.
ANALYSIS
The Brewers' catcher situation changed a lot this week as Pedro Severino was designated for assignment Wednesday and Omar Narvaez went on the injured list with a quadriceps strain Thursday. The addition of Reetz to the 40-man roster doesn't necessarily mean a promotion is coming any time soon, though it does imply that the team sees him as a potential catching option at some point this season. Milwaukee called up Mario Feliciano to the big-league club Thursday to replace Narvaez. The 26-year-old Reetz has a .272/.374/.609 line 25 homers between Double-A and Triple-A this year and was promoted to Triple-A on July 12.

2015 Fantasy Outlook
The Nationals' third-round pick in the 2014 draft, Reetz made a solid showing in the Gulf Coast League as he got his feet wet as a professional, showing the tools to make an impact both behind the plate and with his bat. His contact skills are already in place, and scouts expect his power to develop as he matures and fills out, potentially giving him Brian McCann-like upside if he meets his ceiling. Catching prospects notoriously take a long time to develop, though, and the defensive demands of the position can take a big toll on their offense, so unless Reetz has a huge breakthrough in 2015, dynasty league owners are probably better off taking a wait-and-see approach with him.
