2025 Fantasy Outlook
Tinoco, a 29-year-old journeyman who owns a 3.70 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 80 career MLB appearances, pitched for four different organizations in 2024. The right-hander was unable to find success with the Rangers, Royals or Cubs, but dominated after the Marlins claimed him off waivers in late-July. Tinoco compiled a remarkable 2.03 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB across 26.2 innings with Miami and quickly moved into a high-leverage role, securing three saves and five holds over the final two months. The Venezuelan native attributed his newfound success to his increased usage of a slider (.097 BAA) that he revamped while pitching overseas in Japan in 2023. If Tinoco continues to throw it as his primary offering (52.3 percent pitch usage in 2024), his chances of opening 2025 as the Marlins' closer may increase. For now, he'll simply try to prove that 2024 was no fluke and compete for a high-leverage role during spring training. Read Past Outlooks

Reinstated off IL
The Marlins reinstated Tinoco (back) from the 15-day injured list Saturday.
ANALYSIS
After picking up the Opening Day win against the Pirates, Tinoco was placed on the 15-day IL on March 30 due to a left lower-back strain. He began throwing off a mound in late April, and the 28-year-old right-hander has progressed enough in his recovery to return to the big club. Tinico appeared in 32 regular-season games between the Rangers, Cubs and Marlins in 2024 and logged a 3.32 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, three saves and a 42:12 K:BB across 40.2 innings.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
The 6-foot-4 Venezuelan righty was one of the pitchers Colorado received from Toronto in the Troy Tulowitzki deal, and it is easy to see why the Rockies found him attractive. Tinoco posted a 2.97 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 105 strikeouts in 121.1 innings as a 20-year-old at Low-A. He has a power sinker that sits in the mid-90s and an slider/changeup combo that should be good enough for him to make it as a starter. In fact, it is a pitch mix that could allow him to be better than average in Coors Field, as he should be able to generate a good number of groundballs. Even if he were forced to move to the bullpen down the road, his sinker could play up in short bursts to the point that he could handle high-leverage situations, so his floor is likely that of a setup man.
