Back with Marlins as NRI
Davis signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis posted a .685 OPS while appearing in 34 games for the Marlins before requiring season-ending right meniscus surgery. He should be healthy heading into spring training and will compete for a reserve outfielder role, but the 31-year-old will more likely than not start the season at Triple-A Jacksonville.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2021
2020
Davis has an option remaining and figures to spend most of 2021 shuttling back and forth between the minors and the big-league roster. He will provide valuable depth to a Toronto outfield that was bolstered by the addition of George Springer, although that value may not translate to our game barring multiple injuries ahead of him on the depth chart. If unexpected playing time were to open up, Davis would likely be a popular add given his speed and the team context. That said, Davis is nearing his 29th birthday and his sprint speed was only in the 77th percentile last season. The big question is whether he could even hit enough for the speed to play in mixed formats. Davis, after missing some time in July with an unspecified issue, upped his barrel rate in his limited sample last season, but that increase came with a jump in strikeout rate to an untenable 32.4%.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Should see run in center
Davis, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, should see playing time in center field with Jazz Chisholm sidelined due to turf toe, according to Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald.
ANALYSIS
Garrett Hampson has been the main option in center field since Chisholm suffered the injury, but manager Skip Schumaker would prefer he be utilized in more of a utility role. Davis has a .536 OPS across 171 career games in the big leagues, but his defense in center would provide some much-needed stability to Miami's outfield with Jesus Sanchez and Avisail Garcia also on the injured list with hamstring and back issues, respectively.
