Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Loaisiga's last two seasons have been shortened due to elbow issues, and he didn't pitch after April 3rd last year as a consequence of tearing the UCL in his right elbow. The right-hander's surgery wasn't a full Tommy John procedure, and he's could be ready to pitch by late April or early May, though it wouldn't be a surprise if he's brought along slowly given that he's tossed just 21.2 big-league innings since 2022. In his best campaign (2021), Loaisiga was a key high-leverage asset out of New York's bullpen, but he's never been a big strikeout pitcher and will likely need to establish both his health and effectiveness before he's given the ball late in games once he's ready to return. Rest of Season

Won't return in 2025
Manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Loaisiga (elbow) will miss the remainder of the season due to a right flexor strain, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
The 30-year-old righty will conclude the year with a 4.25 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 25:10 K:BB across 29.2 innings. Although Loaisiga's season was cut short by an injury, he reportedly won't need to undergo surgery to address the issue, which significantly boosts his chances of being available for the start of the 2026 campaign.

Durability has been Loaisiga's biggest obstacle throughout his career, with 2021 representing the only season in which he's logged more than 48 innings. The 29-year-old dealt with persistent elbow issues last year that limited him to only 17.2 innings across 17 appearances. He dealt with right elbow inflammation in early April, then had surgery a month later to remove a bone spur from the elbow. After an extended absence, the right-hander returned for a month of action, only to return back to the list with elbow inflammation. Loaisiga was never known for his strikeout prowess, but only struck out six batters last season for a career-low 8.7 percent strikeout rate. In addition, ending the season with an elbow injury that gave him trouble all season doesn't inspire confidence in his 2024 prospects.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Likely hitting open market
The Yankees are expected to decline Loaisiga's $5 million club option for 2026, reports Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News.
Analysis
The right-hander missed the final two months of the 2025 regular season due to back and elbow injuries, and he also missed the start of the campaign while recovering from elbow surgery. Loaisiga had a 4.25 ERA over 29.2 innings when healthy, but a 1.48 WHIP and 5.83 FIP are likely a better representation of his performance given that he surrendered seven homers. The 30-year-old was once a trusted high-leverage arm for the Yankees, but he's now likely to hit free agency with ineffectiveness and a poor injury history clouding his future.
