2023 Projections
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Waldichuk was acquired from the Yankees in the Frankie Montas trade and made his MLB debut for Oakland in September. The left-hander was up-and-down in his first taste of the big leagues with 4.93 ERA across seven starts, though he finished on a strong note with seven shutout frames against the Angels in the season finale. He had 137 strikeouts across 95 minor-league innings and has a decent four-pitch mix. Waldichuk should open 2023 in Oakland's rotation, but his fantasy utility won't be more than a dart throw until he sees more action in the majors. Read Past Outlooks

Hit hard this spring
Waldichuk has allowed nine earned runs on nine hits and seven walks while recording four strikeouts across six innings over three Cactus League appearances (two starts).
ANALYSIS
Waldichuk has made a less than convincing case for a rotation spot this spring given his poor numbers. Two of the nine hits the southpaw has conceded have left the yard as well, but Waldichuk, who posted a 2-2 record, 4.93 ERA and 1.21 WHIP across his first seven big-league starts at the tail end of last season, should still have at least a couple more Cactus League opportunities to right the ship before Opening Day.
