2025 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Evans had a dominant start to the year, logging a 1.23 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 47:15 K:BB in 51.1 innings over his first 10 starts for Double-A Arkansas. He was then moved to the bullpen in June to manage his innings and see how his stuff looked in relief (not exceptional), and then he moved back to the rotation in July. Evans never recaptured his early-season form, but he logged a career-high 107 innings and could push closer to 150 innings in 2025. The Mariners have arguably the best five-man rotation in baseball, but if they look to trade a starter for a young hitter, or if they deal with an injury in the rotation, the depth behind those five is all either unproven or proven to be bad. Enter Evans, who could be summoned at any point early in 2025, as Seattle has often skipped their best pitching prospects over Triple-A and the Pacific Coast League entirely. Evans' best pitch is a plus slider, and at his best, he's locating all his pitches and generating weak contact, although his fastball velocity dipped throughout the season (low-90s by the end of the year) and he'll need to recapture mid-90s juice to make it as a reliable starter. Up over 100 innings
Evans has a 4.20 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 38:18 K:BB in 40.2 innings over his last 10 starts for Double-A Arkansas.
ANALYSIS
Evans had a dominant start to the year, logging a 1.23 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 47:15 K:BB in 51.1 innings over his first 10 starts for the Travelers. He was then moved to the bullpen in June, presumably to manage his innings and see how his stuff looked in relief, and then he moved back to the rotation in July. Evans never recaptured his early-season form, but he's up over 100 innings on the year (103 in 31 appearances) and could be a more realistic big-league rotation option in 2025.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
For those who are avid dynasty-league managers, Evans became the talk of spring training in late March, as reports started emerging of him adding four miles per hour to his low-90s fastball. The Mariners selected Evans in the 12th round of last year's draft, but since then his stuff has ticked up significantly -- he also added a sweeper -- and this assignment to Double-A is as aggressive as Atlanta's assignment for Hurston Waldrep and more aggressive than Cincinnati's assignment for Rhett Lowder, so it's fair to view Evans as a first-round talent.
