Beltre signed a $2.6 million deal with the Blue Jays on Friday, Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Beltre, a shortstop from the Dominican Republic, has a well-proportioned 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame. He has a great right-handed swing and is one of the best pure hitters in this year's international signing class. Beltre also has perhaps more experience than any of his peers in competitive games, so while he doesn't have huge raw power or plus-plus speed, he should have success right away in pro ball.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
Beltre, a shortstop from the Dominican Republic, signed with the Blue Jays for $2.6 million on Jan. 15, 2021. He has a well-proportioned 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame. Beltre has a great right-handed swing and is one of the best pure hitters in this year's international signing class. It can be tempting to chase after 6-foot-3 and 6-foot-4 international hitters with power and speed to dream on, but if there are major questions about their ability to hit, their stock can often plummet when they come stateside. Beltre has perhaps more experience than any of his peers in competitive games, so while he doesn't have huge raw power or plus-plus speed, he should have success right away in pro ball. If he hits as expected, he should eventually tap into 20-plus homer power and could end up hitting near the top of a lineup. He is not a lock to stick at shortstop, but should hit enough to profile at second or third base.
