Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lugo probably won't win a job in spring training, but he could be an option early in the season if the team needs outfield reinforcements due to injuries or poor performance. A former Red Sox prospect, Lugo was sent to the Angels at the 2024 trade deadline as part of the package that netted Boston reliever Luis Garcia. A bat-first left-field prospect, Lugo slashed .287/.376/.578 with 17 home runs, 16 steals and a 23.3 percent strikeout rate in 79 games, primarily split between Boston's Double-A and Triple-A affiliates. He suffered a season-ending thumb injury in his first game at Triple-A after the trade and was added to the 40-man roster during the offseason. He is an average runner with average raw power, so Lugo doesn't have a very high ceiling, but he's big-league ready and could hit enough to be an everyday left fielder. Lugo, who turns 24 in May and bats right-handed, is a former infielder and it's possible the Angels will try him out as a super-utility player if he is still passable at third base or second base. Back in majors
The Angels recalled Lugo from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.
Analysis
The 24-year-old will take the roster spot of Nolan Schanuel (wrist), who was placed on the injured list Sunday. Lugo received his first taste of the majors earlier this season and had an .804 OPS in 17 games. He'll likely serve as the Angels' fourth outfielder behind Taylor Ward, Jo Adell and Bryce Teodosio.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Opening to make roster?
Per Sam Blum of The Athletic, Lugo may have a chance to make the Angels' Opening Day roster after the club released Mickey Moniak on Tuesday.
Analysis
Lugo is one of the organization's top prospects and didn't seem to have a realistic chance of breaking camp with the big-league club, but the departure of a veteran leaves the team without a clear fourth outfielder. The Angels haven't been shy about promoting their top prospects in recent years, but the 23-year-old wouldn't necessarily have a clear path to immediate playing time with Taylor Ward, Jo Adell and Mike Trout positioned for starting jobs.
