Generated buzz in camp
1BToronto Blue Jays  AA
March 21, 2023
Nunez generated buzz with his play in Blue Jays camp, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Nunez, 22, began in minor-league camp but was quickly elevated to the major-league side after impressing as a fill-in for the then-injured Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Brandon Belt. He's since been sent back to minor-league camp but not before registering eight batted balls of at least 105 mph, including the hardest-hit one of any Blue Jay this spring at 114 mph on a walkoff double back on March 3. Nunez batted .304/.340/.484 with 19 home runs over 121 games between Low-A Dunedin and High-A Vancouver in 2022. He could move up to Double-A New Hampshire to start 2023.
