May 19, 2025
Zastryzny will serve as the Brewers' opening pitcher in Monday's game against the Orioles, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Zastryzny will likely be limited to one or two innings before giving way to right-hander Quinn Priester, who is slated to work as the Brewers' primary pitcher in the series opener. The left-handed Zastryzny was acquired via trade last week and tossed two scoreless frames in his first appearance with Milwaukee.

2017 Fantasy Outlook
Zastryzny spent much of 2016 in the minors before emerging as a fairly reliable long-relief and lefty specialist during the Cubs' playoff push. He made his debut on Aug. 19 and would go on to post a 1.13 ERA in 11 appearances while also making Chicago’s NLDS and NLCS roster. Zastryzny had fairly extreme platoon splits, as lefties only hit for a .138 BA against him while righties hit .276. Righties also slugged .310 versus Zastryzny while lefties only slugged .138. While his impressive 2016 numbers will likely regress somewhat with a larger sample size, Zastryzny appears to have solidified a role in Chicago's pen next year. In addition to being a lefty-specialist, he also has long-relief capability and while Mike Montgomery will likely get the first crack at filling in Jason Hammel's spot in the rotation, the 24-year-old will also get a chance in spring training to make his case to be the Cubs' fifth starter.
