Robert Calaz

Calaz has never had a BABIP below .400 across three stops in pro ball, so his overall numbers are inflated, but he also hit the ball really hard relative to his peers in his age-17 and age-18 seasons. The righty-hitting outfielder received a seven-figure bonus in 2023 out of the Dominican Republic and was one of the best players in the Dominican Summer League that year, slashing .325/.423/.561 with a 155 wRC+. He was even better in 2024 in the Arizona Complex League en route to MVP honors, slashing .349/.462/.651 with 10 homers, 12 steals and a 22.4 percent strikeout rate in 49 games. Many 18-year-olds fall off a bit when they get the bump to Single-A to close the year, but Calaz hit .327 with two homers and three steals in 13 games while missing a good chunk of the final month of the season with an undisclosed injury. He will probably end up in right field, but Calaz is currently an above-average runner who still sees time in center field. His 28.1 percent strikeout rate at Single-A portends potential strikeout issues as he moves up the ladder, but Calaz's fantasy ceiling is clearly quite high. Read Past Outlooks
