2026 Fantasy Outlook
Sloan, a 6-foot-5 righty the Mariners gave $3 million to out of high school in 2024, doesn't have any obvious weaknesses after reaching High-A at the end of his age-19 season. Of course, the same thing could have been said at certain points about Andrew Painter, Jackson Jobe, Forrest Whitley, Dylan Bundy, etc... Prep righties can break our hearts for reasons that are seemingly outside of everyone's control. In his debut season, Sloan showed three plus pitches, ideal size, and an enviable combination of strikeout upside (27.0 K%) and the ability to generate weak contact (50.0 GB%). He closed the year with 13 strikeouts and zero walks in 11.1 innings across four starts at High-A. Health permitting, Sloan and his mid-90s fastball (touches 98 mph), upper-80s slider and low-90s changeup should give Double-A hitters fits this summer, and he could even reach Triple-A at some point in his age-20 season. History has taught us that there's an ever-present risk associated with hard-throwing righties at this stage of their development, but if Sloan continues on his current trajectory, he could finish 2026 as the game's No. 1 pitching prospect. Sloan will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his eye Friday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis
Sloan's recovery is expected to take about 2-to-3 weeks, but it'll still be long enough to bring Sloan's campaign to an early end. The 19-year-old has pitched well out of the rotation for High-A Everett this season with a 3.44 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 77:15 K:BB over 70.2 frames in his first year of professional ball.

Rising through prospect ranks
PSeattle Mariners  A+
December 30, 2025
Sloan was a breakout prospect in the Mariners organization during the 2025 season, according to Jonathan Mayo, Jim Callis and Sam Dykstra of MLB.com.
Analysis
Sloan was a second-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, but he handled things pretty well in his first pro season. He posted a 3.44 ERA and an impressive 5.2 K/BB in the hitter-friendly California League, which was enough to earn a promotion to High-A late in the year. He should continue to rise up the minor-league ranks in 2026 and should also continue to move higher up in the prospect lists.
