He struggled in a late-season look as a starter (7.50 ERA), but Beck was effective when used in relief by the Giants, collecting a 3.33 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 60:19 K:BB over 73 innings. A .613 OPS against right-handed batters and .820 OPS versus left-handed hitters would also seem to point to his future being in the bullpen. While Beck has missed bats at a solid 24.5 percent rate in the minors, that number dropped as he moved up levels and his 19.2 percent mark with the Giants suggests he might not produce much swing-and-miss in the big leagues. Beck also no longer looks like he'll be much of a groundball guy, holding a 35.2 percent rate at Triple-A Sacramento and a 40.8 percent rate with the Giants in 2023. ANALYSIS
Beck will join the big club for the first time all season after completing his recovery from surgery to address an upper right arm aneurysm, which cropped up during spring training. The right-hander got stretched out to 56 pitches and three innings over his five minor-league rehab outings, so he be an option for the rotation if the Giants elect to expand to six men at some point in September. For the time being, however, Beck will likely serve as a multi-inning reliever.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Beck was the headliner of the July 2019 trade which sent Mark Melancon to the Braves. He finished that year out strongly but has failed to distinguish himself since then, most recently posting a 5.25 ERA and 116:36 K:BB across 111.1 frames between Double- and Triple-A in 2022. Despite the mediocre year and Beck slated to turn 27 in June, the Giants chose to add him to their 40-man roster this offseason to keep him away from the Rule 5 Draft. Beck typically induces ground balls at a high rate and has struck out over a batter per innings during his time in the minors, but he still doesn't look like more than a swingman type at this point.
