Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Isaac looks the part of a franchise first baseman in the making, and his track record of performance is very strong, but a late-season spike in strikeouts has increased his perceived volatility in dynasty leagues. Isaac slashed .310/.395/.579 with 12 home runs, 13 steals and a 27.6 percent strikeout rate in his first 54 games for High-A Bowling Green before missing two weeks with an undisclosed injury. After returning in late June, Isaac slashed .213/.339/.372 with seven home runs, three steals and a 41 percent strikeout rate over the final 53 games of his season, which included 31 games at Double-A after an early-August promotion. He made up for the lost time with a .957 OPS, three homers and a 40.3 percent strikeout rate in 15 Arizona Fall League games. He's a big guy (6-foot-3, 240 pounds), but Isaac happens to be 27-for-30 on stolen-base attempts in 209 games, so he could flirt with double-digit steals early in his big-league career. If Isaac's 2024 strikeout issues quickly start to look like an outlier, he'll surge back up prospect rankings, but if he looks like the same whiff-happy hitter early in 2025, he'll fall outside the top 50. We advise buying low, as Isaac still has a very high ceiling with youth and strong makeup on his side. He turns 21 this offseason and will return to Double-A to start the year. Read Past Outlooks

Sitting out Spring Breakout game
Isaac won't play Thursday in the Rays' Spring Breakout game against Red Sox prospects due to a sore left wrist/elbow, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Outfielder Matthew Etzel was added to the roster as a replacement for Isaac, who was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday. Isaac first experienced soreness in his left arm in late February, resulting in him being limited to designated hitter duties in his final four Grapefruit League games prior to being reassigned. The Rays had intended to get Isaac some reps in the corner outfield in addition to first base this spring, but the elbow injury has thwarted those plans. Isaac should be ready to go for the start of the minor-league season in late March, but it's uncertain whether he'll be cleared to play first base by then.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Isaac is a rare premium first base prospect. Most of the best fantasy first basemen were underrated as prospects (Paul Goldschmidt, Pete Alonso) or came up at other positions (Bryce Harper, Vladimir Guerrero), but the Rays selected Isaac out of high school with the No. 29 overall pick in 2022 knowing full well he'd be splitting time between first base and designated hitter. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound lefty slugger has huge raw power, but he didn't sell out for it in his first full pro season, logging a 21 percent strikeout rate at Single-A and at High-A. His walk rate was eerily consistent as well, (15% at Single-A, 14% at High-A). Anyone who doubted Isaac's game power got a swift lesson at the end of the year after he hit six home runs in 12 High-A games en route to a .490 ISO in that brief run as a 19-year-old. Isaac could be big-league ready in a year or two, and the main question is whether he will be platooned at the highest level. He had a .976 OPS and 20.1 K% in 339 plate appearances against righties and a .697 OPS and 25.5 K% in 94 plate appearances against southpaws.
