PBaltimore Orioles
April 11, 2024
Ramirez was traded by the Mets to the Orioles in exchange for cash considerations Thursday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez earned a spot on the Mets' Opening Day roster, but he allowed seven earned runs across his first 5.1 innings of the season. He was designated for assignment as a result, but he'll now get the chance to earn a low-leverage role in the Orioles' bullpen.

Entering mix for saves?
PSeattle Mariners
August 23, 2021
Ramirez earned his first save of the season in Sunday's win over the Astros and could be entering the Mariners' closer committee, at least while Diego Castillo is on the injured list with an inflamed throwing shoulder.
ANALYSIS
With Castillo out, Paul Sewald and Drew Steckenrider looked like the logical candidates for save opportunities, but the two pitched ahead of Ramirez in Saturday's contest. Sewald and Steckenrider are still probably better fantasy options while Castillo is out, though Ramirez may be looking at a temporary uptick in value.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2021
2020
A Rule 5 pick from the Astros organization in December of 2019, Ramirez did enough in 2020 to stick on the Mariners' roster, even if it's still mostly the promise of the stuff that's keeping him around. He took the ball 16 times for Seattle, totaling 20.2 innings with a 2.61 ERA and his first three career saves. The estimators say his ERA should have been more than twice what it was, and that's the kind of grim picture you expect them the paint for a pitcher with a 21.3 BB%. However, Ramirez sits in the mid-90s with his fastball and has a good swing-and-miss slider. Ramirez' slider had a 42.9 Whiff% last year and a .031/.057/.063 line against, per Statcast. Until he shows he can harness that with some sort of consistency, Ramirez can't be entrusted with important innings on a regular basis.
Impressed by his strikeout potential, the Mariners nabbed Ramirez from Houston with the fifth pick of the Rule 5 draft. The 24-year old right-hander split 2019 between High-A and Double-A, finishing with the Corpus Christi Hooks, posting a 4.76 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 89 strikeouts but 52 walks in 62.1 frames. Ramirez has a live arm, with a fastball topping at 97 mph along with a pair of breaking pitches, but is unpolished, beginning his pro career a little late at 21 years old. Walks have been an issue throughout his minor-league career, but if he can improve his control, Ramirez has the stuff to succeed in a high-leverage relief role, though starting isn't off the table. He'll spend the season on the Mariners' roster where he'll work in low-leverage spots. The goal will be learning to locate his plus stuff with better accuracy.
