Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Born in Lithuania, Kasparas Jakucionis began playing basketball in the country's youth leagues before joining FC Barcelona. He played for the youth team, the U18 team and the main team throughout 2022-23 and 2024-25. In 2022, he also placed Gold in the U16 Euro Championship A. Jakucionis was named Zadar Tournament (ANGT) MVP in 2023 and Belgrade (NIJT) MVP in 2024. In the summer of 2024, he committed to playing college basketball for Illinois. As a one-and-done freshman, Jakucionis played 31.9 minutes per game and averaged 15.0 points on 44/32/85 shooting, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists. He was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team and the All-Big Ten Third Team. Jakucionis is an adept playmaker capable of scoring or passing from anywhere on the floor. At 6-foot-6 with good footwork, feel for the game and shooting touch, he can play a multitude of roles, including that of a primary playmaker. He sets up his teammates with ease, threading the needle for easy scoring opportunities. Despite not being an elite athlete, Jakucionis can also create his own shot with quality dribbling, hesitations and a working step-back jumper. His understanding of angles and advantages allowed him to average 5.1 free-throw attempts per game. On defense, he isn't a playmaker, but he's solid enough to work within a scheme. Jakucionis projects as a combo guard in the NBA, though one who may be more comfortable as a passer than a scorer out of the gate. That gives him a high floor as a potential sixth man early on, if not a starter. In terms of playstyle, he shares similarities with players like Austin Reaves and Goran Dragic.

Massive game in Las Vegas debut
GMiami Heat
July 11, 2025
Jakucionis generated 24 points (7-12 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, four assists and two steals during Friday's 105-98 loss to Atlanta in Summer League.
ANALYSIS
Jakucionis shot 1-for-15 from the field and had a 6:12 assist-to-turnover ratio during three appearances in the California Classic. He rebounded in a big way Friday, catching fire from three-point land and turning the ball over just two times in 28 minutes. The Illinois product was the only Heat player to hit the 20-point milestone.

Struggling in Summer League
GMiami Heat
July 9, 2025
Jakucionis had a rough time at the California Summer League and struggled to get things going in his first taste of pro action, according to Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald. "I think I need to just settle in more, play at my own pace, don't get sped up too much as I was these three games," Jakucionis said. "I didn't feel myself in those games. But I think that's normal. It's a process, so I'm just happy to be here, happy to be able to learn from coaches, from other guys by working out, watching film and just understanding the game."
ANALYSIS
Jakucionis was the Heat's first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, but he didn't play like one in the early stages of the Summer League. The floor general scored 12 points while shooting 1-for-15 from the field and 0-for-11 from three-point range in his two outings. Time will tell if Jakucionis will be able to turn things around, but this wasn't a promising showing for the young guard.
