Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Pokusevski was born December 26, 2001in Belgrade, Serbia (formerly Yugoslavia). He grew up in Novi Sad, where he began playing basketball for local teams. He broke onto the scene as a youth player for Olympiacos Pireaus, a Greek club. Pokusevski has dual-citizenship in Servia and Greece. At age 17, Pokusevski was promoted to the Olympiacos senior team, becoming the youngest EuroLeague player in club history. From there, his stock rose and he caught the attention of more NBA scouts. In 2017, he participated in the Jordan Brand Classic camp. He also played in the Basketball Without Borders Europe camp in 2018 and the NBA All-Star Basketball Without Borders Global Camp in 2019. Pokusevski played for the Serbian national under-17 team and the under-18 team in back-to-back seasons. Pokusevski began his professional career in Munich, Germany with Olympiacos U18, playing three games in a tournament. He averaged 10.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in 23.0 minutes. The following season, in 2018-19, he played for both the U18 team and the parent club for Olympiacos -- four games with the former and two games with the latter. With the U18 team, he averaged 15.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 2.5 assists and 2.3 steals in 26.3 minutes. The next season, in 2019-20, he appeared in 11 games with Olympiacos B, where he averaged 10.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.3 steals in 23.1 minutes. He also played one game with the parent club. Arguably the best game of his pro career before the NBA was during the U18 Euro Championship A, playing for Serbia against Germany. In the win on July 27, 2019, Pokusevski posted 16 points (5-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 4-7 FT), 13 rebounds, seven blocks, five assists and three steals in 29 minutes.

Sustains right ankle sprain

Ankle
September 20, 2023
Pokusevski (arm) sustained a right ankle sprain during an offseason workout Tuesday and will be re-evaluated in six weeks, Brandon Rahbar of DailyThunder.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pokusevski suffered a small right humerus fracture at the beginning of June and was unable to play for the Serbian national team in the FIBA World Cup as a result. Although he was evidently cleared to resume working out, he's now dealing with an ankle issue that will force him to miss several weeks and could sideline him for the start of the regular season. Pokusevski has had a relatively consistent role over his first three seasons with the Thunder, averaging 8.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 21.7 minutes per game. However, he'll likely find himself outside of the rotation once healthy in 2023-24 while the Thunder welcome 2022 No. 2 overall pick Chet Holmgren to their frontcourt after he sat out the entire 2022-23 season with a foot injury.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Won't play in World Cup
FOklahoma City Thunder
July 29, 2023
Pokusevski won't play for Serbia in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Eurohoops.net reports.
ANALYSIS
The 17th overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, Pokusevski suffered a broken arm during an offseason workout at the end of May and won't receive medical clearance to train with a basketball until late August, meaning he won't be able to recover in time to play in the tournament. The 21-year-old was hoping to secure a spot on the Serbian national team's 12-man roster, but the injury will prevent him from doing so.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2021
2020
Pokusevski flashed some intriguing upside down the stretch during 2021-22, putting up top-150 value over the final two months. In 28 minutes per game, he compiled averages of 11.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.8 blocks and 0.7 steals, to go with 1.3 triples per game. The fact that Chet Holmgren has been ruled out for the season with a foot injury does open to door for Pokusevski to have a slightly larger role than anticipated. With that being said, he remains largely unproven, so managers in standard formats should view him as a last-round flier, at best, until we see otherwise.
Pokusevski is one of the rawest prospects in recent memory, but the Thunder weren't shy about giving him plenty of run at the NBA level following the short G League season. In his final 28 appearances, the 7-foot, 190-pound forward averaged 11.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 28.4 minutes. However, he shot just 37/32/74 and committed more turnovers (2.8) than assists. Despite his struggles, there's a good chance he opens the 2021-22 season as the starter at small forward. When his shot is falling, Pokusevski has the talent to stuff the stat sheet since he's an above-average passer for his position, and he has natural rebounding and defensive upside given his height. There will be plenty of up-and-down performances for the 19-year-old out of Serbia, but he's an intriguing dynasty league option and could be worth a look with the final pick in a redraft league.
Pokusevski is an 18-year-old 7-footer out of Serbia who weighs just 201 pounds. However, for his height, he has great ball-handling, playmaking and shooting skills. The main issue early in his career will be his weight, as he's really one of the thinnest players in recent memory. It's possible he won't reach his potential until he further fills out his frame, and he might not be an every-day player to start his NBA career. Pokusevski can largely be ignored in standard, and maybe even deep, redraft leagues. Dynasty and keeper leagues are a different story, as he could be worth a flier there as a long-term add.
