2025 Fantasy Outlook
The 2nd pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Sarr finished fourth in Rookie of the Year voting. He proved to be much more polished on defense than offense. Despite being just 19 years old, he was eighth in the league in block percentage (5.0%). However, he didn't rebound the ball especially well (8.6 REB per 36 minutes). Some of that could have been due to sharing the court often with Jonas Valanciunas, who is now on the Nuggets. This season, Sarr should play center for nearly all of his time on the court, which should benefit him both as a rebounder and shot-blocker. Offensively, Sarr was raw. His true-shooting percentage (48.2%) was the lowest of all qualifiers. Some of that was due to trying to make plays for himself rather than fall into the mold of being a pick-and-roll rim-runner. That often resulted in tough, contested mid-range looks. Getting to the rim more, especially given his size (7-foot, 224 pounds), will be important. On a positive note offensively, he flashed upside as a passer, with 3.2 assists to 2.3 turnovers per 36 minutes. That's a solid ratio for a young big man looking to do a lot for himself. Sarr also saw just 27.1 minutes per game as a rookie, which has a strong chance of increasing into the low-30s. That alone would do wonders for his fantasy value. All-in-all, Sarr should be considered inside the top-100 picks for category formats, and probably much higher in points formats. Read Past Outlooks

Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Sarr was born in Bordeaux, France to a family of basketball players. He started playing at four years old, developing well and securing a spot on Real Madrid's cadet youth team for two seasons starting in 2019. Shortly after, in 2021, he moved to the United States and joined the Overtime Elite for two seasons, playing the first with Team Overtime and second with YNG Dreamerz. In 2022-23, he earned second-team All-OTE honors. Gaining steam as a draft prospect, Sarr joined the Australian Basketball League for 2023-24 as a member of the Perth Wildcats, utilizing the NBL's Next Stars program. In 30 appearances, he averaged 9.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.5 blocks in 18.0 minutes. Sarr stands 7-foot-1, with defense being his standout skill. He moves incredibly well for his size and can guard on the perimeter as well as protect the rim. That size and athleticism makes him an obvious pick-and-roll threat, and he's shown some potential as a ballhandler in transition and passer in the halfcourt. The hope is that he can evolve into more of a shooter, but he went a modest 16-of-58 (28%) from deep last year and 58-of-82 (71%) from the charity stripe. Sarr also has a thin frame, which may create some challenges going up against bulkier centers in the NBA. Sarr's full potential will be reached if he can develop a three-point shot and/or some playmaking potential in addition to his defense. As it stands, he draws comparisons to Evan Mobley. Sarr is too fluid to be compared to someone like Rudy Gobert and not a good enough shooter to be compared to Chet Holmgren. Primarily, he contains the upside to be one of the most impactful defenders in the NBA and should have no problem walking into double-doubles given his athleticism running the break and throwing down dunks.

ANALYSIS
The second-year center scored at least 15 points for a fifth straight game while recording at least one steal and one block in a third straight. Sarr has put together a solid January as he continues to emerge as a core piece of the Wizards' rebuild, averaging 16.9 points, 5.8 boards, 2.4 assists, 1.6 blocks and 0.8 steals over 12 games this month.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
With a 9-foot-2 standing reach, plus great athleticism and ballhandling for his size, Sarr, out of Perth of the NBL, is an enticing prospect. It's easy to see why he went No. 2 overall in the draft. However, he struggled mightily in Summer League, averaging 5.5 points and 0.5 threes on 19/12/50 shooting, 7.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.5 blocks, 0.8 steals and 2.3 turnovers in 29.6 minutes. I'm afraid you read that correctly; Sarr went 9-for-47 shooting as a 7-footer. At the same time, there are just not that many 7-footers that move with his fluidity and have a jumper that looks mechanically sound, and that's before considering his defensive upside. He has the height of a towering center but plays like a perimeter power forward. He wants to run in transition; he wants to take threes; he wants to take mid-range jumpers; he wants to work at the elbow. He often has his mind made up before entering the paint, and he doesn't make any effort to bully into the restricted area. On a positive note, Sarr has passing vision and was relatively active on the offensive glass. Defensively, there was plenty to like in Summer League. He can swat shots at the rim, and players on the wing appear uncomfortable when he's switched onto them. Fantasy-wise, his blocks and steals potential may carry him. Plus, the Wizards are expected to be bad again, which should afford the 19-year-old plenty of minutes and opportunities.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Trae Young addition could help
CWashington Wizards
January 9, 2026
Washington believes pairing Sarr with a pick-and-roll point guard like Trae Young will maximize his impact while accelerating his development, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sarr's league-leading blocks per game have reinforced the team's confidence in his defensive anchor potential, and that's going to be even more important given Young's shortcomings on the defensive side of things. The franchise also believes existing personnel, including Bilal Coulibaly on the perimeter, can help offset defensive concerns elsewhere. While the addition of Young could bring out the best in Sarr, it's fair to wonder how much Young will actually play for the remainder of the season with the Wizards hoping to hold onto their top-eight protected lottery pick.
