2025 Fantasy Outlook
With the Mavericks' backcourt decimated by injuries, Williams, who was operating under a two-way deal, was thrust into action at the end of 2024-25. Over the final 15 games, including the Play-In Tournament, the backup point guard averaged 15.5 points, 4.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals while posting 55/39/86 shooting splits. Williams was awarded a standard deal before the postseason and will return to Dallas this season. Kyrie Irving is going to miss at least the first half of the campaign while recovering from a torn ACL, but Dallas brought in D'Angelo Russell to serve as the starting point guard until the veteran superstar is good to go. That leaves Williams competing for backup minutes with Dante Exum and Jaden Hardy. That's not an ideal spot to be in for fantasy purposes, but given what we saw from Williams to end last season, he has to at least be on radars heading into 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks
Just misses double-double
Williams finished Wednesday's 123-114 loss to the Suns with 17 points (7-13 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, nine assists and three steals in 33 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Making his second straight start, Williams fell one dime shy of his first double-double of the season and first since joining the Mavericks ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. The fourth-year guard continues to see his workload and usage rise for the injury-ravaged squad, and over the last five games, he's averaging 14.2 points, 4.8 assists, 3.0 boards and 2.4 steals in 26.6 minutes a contest.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Williams split 2021-22 between the NBA and the G League, where he lit it up with the Westchester Knicks to the tune of 22.6 points, 6.4 assists and 4.1 rebounds over 33.1 minutes per game early in the campaign. His effort earned him a 10-day look with Portland in late December and a two-way deal in late February. Williams took advantage of his opportunity with a banged-up Trail Blazers squad down the stretch, averaging 13.6 points, 4.2 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 steals over 28.5 minutes per contest after the All-Star break. However, he's unlikely to repeat that output this season with Portland healthier to open 2022-23, and the second-year guard may bounce between the NBA and the G League again this year. As a result, he is likely only an attractive fantasy option in the deepest of formats.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Kidd talks him up
Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd had some positive things to say about Williams on Thursday, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
"I thought at the end of the summer, he was playing at a high level," Kidd said. "When he's healthy, he's a problem." Williams is currently day-to-day with a hamstring strain, but he's generated some hype with his play at training camp. His contract for the 2025-26 season is not guaranteed, leading many to speculate that he might not make the final roster, but Kidd's comments seem to indicate otherwise. In a best-case scenario, Williams could potentially open the season as D'Angelo Russell's backup while Kyrie Irving is sidelined.
