Option declined by Orlando
The Magic will decline Houstan's team option, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Orlando will retain Bird Rights over Houstan, and while they will not pick up his $2.1 million option, the two sides could still strike a deal when free agency begins. Houstan came off the bench for most of the season but did start in six of 58 regular-season games and averaged 4.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists over 13.6 minutes per contest.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
The Magic claimed Houstan, a one-and-done wing out of Michigan, with the 32nd pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. In 31.9 minutes per game with the Wolverines, he averaged 10.1 points on 38/36/78 shooting, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists. He's not a great athlete and struggles to score well off the dribble but should act as a catch-and-shoot three option - he's also a good cutter - for an Orlando team in desperate need of shooting. He's a good defender as well. Despite the role-player upside, it might be tough for Houstan to find consistent minutes. Orlando is one of the deeper rebuilding teams in the league. He'll have to fight for backup minutes with Chuma Okeke, Jonathan Isaac, Terrence Ross and Mo Bamba.

Lakers to keep close tabs?
The Lakers acquired the 35th pick of the 2022 NBA Draft in a deal with the Magic on Thursday and this means Houstan might be one of the names the team could be looking at, speculates Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.
ANALYSIS
The Lakers found their way into the upper part of the second round and this means they are now in a position to grab any projected late first-rounders who slide a few spots. Houstan is a one-and-done prospect from Michigan who averaged 10.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game for the Wolverines in 2021-22.
