Caleb Houstan

Caleb Houstan was born in Ontario, Canada on Jan. 9, 2003. He represented Canada at the 2019 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship in Brazil and started all six games, leading team Canada with 22.8 points per game en route to All-Tournament team honors. Houstan was scheduled to represent Canada at two events in 2020 but both were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he returned to international play in 2021, posting 17.0 points per game at the FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup while leading Canada to a bronze medal. For high school, the Canadian star attended Montverde Academy in Florida and was a consensus five-star recruit. The 6-foot-8 forward reclassified after just three years but remained one of the top recruits of the 2021 class. As a sophomore at Montverde, he averaged 10.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists, while shooting 53.1 percent from three. Houstan was the only non-senior to start on that squad, which included current NBA players Scottie Barnes, Cade Cunningham, Moses Moody and Day'Ron Sharpe. Houstan was named to the 2021 McDonald's All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic roster before heading to Michigan for one season. In his lone collegiate season, he averaged 10.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, including a career-high 21-point performance against Rutgers in February. The forward was selected with the 32nd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
