2025 Fantasy Outlook
Following a relatively successful campaign in 2023-24, Kispert received a four-year, $54 million extension in October 2024 that includes a team option for 2028-29. However, he saw a slight dip in production last season. Kispert appeared in a career-low 61 regular-season games due to a torn ligament in his left thumb, averaging 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 26.3 minutes per game before being shut down for the season. He also shot 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and a career-worst 45.1 percent from the field. While he declined last season, it wouldn't be surprising to see the former No. 15 overall pick take another step back. The Wizards are expected to prioritize their youth movement with Bilal Coulibaly, Tre Johnson, AJ Johnson, Cam Whitmore and Kyshawn George all likely to compete for minutes with Kispert. Furthermore, veterans CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton remain in the picture. Kispert is a career 38.2 percent shooter from beyond the arc and should maintain a role as a three-point specialist off the bench. He recorded a 223rd-place finish in the 2024-25 campaign in eight-category leagues, and his limited upside makes him a target on the waiver wire in the 2025-26 season. Read Past Outlooks

Ready for training camp
Wizards general manager Will Dawkins said Wednesday that Kispert (thumb) will be ready for training camp, Chase Hughes of Monumental Sports Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kispert underwent successful surgery on his left thumb back on March 18, ending his 2024-25 campaign early. He finished the regular season with averages of 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 three-pointers and 1.7 assists in 26.3 minutes per game. Presumably, he'll open the season as the primary backup small forward behind Khris Middleton.

2021
Kispert heads into his fourth year in The Association in a familiar role with a rebuilding Wizards team. He figures to be an asset off the bench while starting occasionally. That was the same role he's had in the last two seasons, and essentially, it has translated to fantasy mediocrity regardless of the format. Kispert is an accomplished shooter, making 38.3 percent of his attempts from deep in 2023-24 and 42.4 percent the year before. Still, he shouldn't carry a ton of upside unless he finds a way to start regularly in a team fully committed to a long rebuilding process. Kispert can be a valuable fantasy asset in category-based leagues and deeper formats, and it's worth noting his numbers have been on the rise with each passing year. To note, he either averaged career-best figures or tied his previous career-best mark in points (13.4), rebounds (2.8), assists (2.0), steals (0.5), three-pointers made (2.3) and field-goal attempts (9.9) per game during the 2023-24 season. The only thing that prevents him from being a solid fantasy contributor is the reserve role he'll have in the Wizards' rotation. Re-assessing his value once the season begins could make him worth a waiver-wire pickup, especially if his numbers continue to trend in the right direction.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Likely to sign new deal?
Kispert could end up signing a contract extension with the Wizards before the Oct. 21 deadline, according to Alex Golden of the 'Setting the Pace' podcast.
ANALYSIS
The Oct. 21 deadline represents the last date teams can sign players to rookie-scale extensions, and while negotiations have progressed more slowly than initially expected, the Wizards could still hand Kispert a new deal before the start of the 2024-25 campaign, as the Wizards see him as more than just a shooter. For what it's worth, Kispert is coming off a career-best season in 2023-24 in which he averaged 13.4 points per game across 80 regular-season appearances while shooting 38.3 percent from deep. If Kispert doesn't sign a deal by the Oct. 21 deadline, he will become a restricted free agent following the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
