$Signed a one-year, $2.02 million contract with the Timberwolves in September of 2023.
Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary
Daishen Nix was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, in February of 2002. He is the son of Mina Tupuola who played basketball at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Nix moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, as a teenager and led his high school to back-to-back state championships in his sophomore and junior seasons in which he averaged 19.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists as a junior. He was a five-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class, committing for UCLA before ultimately forgoing his collegiate eligibility to join the NBA G-League Ignite. As part of the Ignite in 2021, Nix averaged 8.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists and was not selected in the 2021 NBA Draft. After playing for the Philadelphia 76ers summer league team, Nix later signed a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets and their G-League Affiliate.
ANALYSIS Nix, who spent his first two seasons in the NBA with the Rockets, will continue his career in Minnesota, presumably joining the Timberwolves on an Exhibit 10 deal. He appeared in 57 games (seven starts) in 2022-23, averaging 4.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 16.0 minutes. He'll have an uphill battle to earn a spot on the Wolves' opening night roster.

Falling out of first round?
GFree Agent
June 30, 2021
Nix was one of the notable disappointments at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, according to Jeremy Woo of SI.
ANALYSIS A well-regarded high school prospect, Nix spent the season with the G League Ignite but delivered a disappointing campaign, averaging just 8.8 points with 5.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds per contest. Scouts were hoping that he could make a positive impression at the Combine, but Nix struggled during five-on-five play and didn't do much to change any opinions. He also weighed in at 225 pounds -- a hefty number for a 6-4 point guard - though he did test fairly well athletically. As of now, Woo notes that Nix likely "profiles as a second-rounder."
