2025 Fantasy Outlook
The No. 13 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Carter made only 36 appearances as a rookie. He averaged 11 minutes per game and posted abysmal shooting splits of 37/30/59. Carter never had a signature offensive moment that sparked excitement for his future. Still, he was a pest defensively, notably racking up four steals in only 11 minutes against the Grizzlies on March 17. Malik Monk and Zach LaVine are the expected backcourt starters, with offseason addition Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis likely the top backups. That leaves Carter as the No. 3 at both guard spots, and he'll have to stave off rookie Nique Clifford, who'll likely get developmental minutes at multiple positions. That's not a good recipe for Carter to have fantasy success. However, Monk has been mentioned often in trade rumors this offseason, so if the Kings do make a dramatic change, Carter's outlook could change quickly. Read Past Outlooks
Ruled out Sunday
Carter (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Carter will miss his third consecutive game due to a left ankle sprain, though his absence shouldn't affect the Sacramento rotation. His next opportunity to suit up will come Tuesday against the Clippers.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Carter was selected with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft by Sacramento. Carter is a high-energy, high-motor guard who's an excellent defender but is a bit of a 'tweener due to his offensive game. He's capable of creating his own shot, hitting 37.7 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc, but it's unclear if his decision-making will be good enough for him to play point guard. While he's only 6-foot-2, the reigning Big East Player of the Year out of Providence has a massive wingspan and logged 8.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game in college. However, he'll have to navigate through plenty of traffic in a busy Kings backcourt that features De'Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Kevin Huerter and Keon Ellis. Adding to that, he isn't starting the season healthy. Carter sustained a left shoulder injury during a pre-draft workout, and the Kings were aware of the issue when selecting him. Sacramento announced a sixth-month timeline from his July surgery, so the rookie may not debut until after the New Year. As a result, it's likely not worth drafting him in fantasy for Year 1.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Sacramento shopping him
The Kings are still actively shopping Carter, Matt George of ABC 10 Sacramento reported Monday.
ANALYSIS
George reports the same about Malik Monk, as he notes that the Kings are trying to clear up the logjam at point guard before committing to free agent Russell Westbrook. After a disappointing rookie campaign, Carter did fare well during the Summer League, perhaps building up his value around the NBA. In six appearances, he produced averages of 14.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals.
