2025 Fantasy Outlook
Butler spent the first half of 2024-25 as a spark off the bench for Washington, averaging 6.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 11.3 minutes per game. After being traded midseason, he saw an expanded role in Philadelphia due to numerous injuries on the roster, posting 11.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 24.3 minutes per game, while shooting 42.6 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from beyond the arc and 87 percent from the free-throw line. During the offseason, Butler latched on with the Suns on a one-year deal after the 76ers declined his option. In Phoenix, the Suns have limited depth behind Devin Booker and Jalen Green, giving Butler a good shot of winning the backup point guard role over Collin Gillespie. Grayson Allen is the favorite to win the backup shooting guard role, however. Butler is a microwave scorer and showed serious promise in Philadelphia last season, but it's hard to imagine him seeing enough minutes in Phoenix to make an impact outside of deeper formats, barring an injury in the backcourt. Butler returns for a second season in Washington after averaging career highs in points (6.3), assists (3.2), rebounds (1.5) and minutes (14.2) per game across 40 regular-season appearances last year. When given an expanded role, Butler was able to capitalize. He played at least 23 minutes six times and averaged 13.8 points, 8.8 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals during those contests. While Tyus Jones moved to Phoenix this offseason, the Wizards added Malcolm Brogdon via trade and drafted Carlton Carrington. Butler figures to be a reserve to open the season, but more minutes could become available if the Wizards fall out of contention and trade away veteran pieces.

Linked to move overseas
Butler has drawn interest from Crvena Zvezda in Serbia, according to NBA reporter Marc Stein.
ANALYSIS
Stein notes that Crvena Zvezda has emerged as the "strong favorite" for Butler's signature. Butler scored 35 points in a preseason game earlier this month for Phoenix against the Lakers, and many were surprised to see him released by the Suns. The Grizzlies have also been mentioned as a possible suitor for Butler, so it will be interesting to see if he waits for more NBA interest to surface.
