2025 Fantasy Outlook
Jackson played 74 games last season, crossing the 70 threshold for just the second time in his seven-year career. That resulted in his second All-Star appearance, with the big man averaging 22.2 points and 2.0 threes on 49/38/78 shooting, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.2 steals. This season, Jackson should have more room to expand his game offensively, as Desmond Bane was traded to the Magic. At the same time, a true peak season from Jackson will also require a clean bill of health and an ability to see minutes in the low-to-mid 30s, something he's had trouble achieving because of foul trouble. His block numbers also aren't what they once were, with his block rate half of his peak season. That's not expected to return with Zach Edey manning the paint. So Jackson's fantasy upside for this season is, in theory, as high as ever. But he still has downside risk associated with him. He's also not starting the season healthy, as he needed toe surgery during the offseason and could be limited to begin the campaign. Read Past Outlooks
Drops 30 points in Berlin Game
Jackson finished Thursday's 118-111 loss to Orlando in the NBA Berlin Game with 30 points (12-22 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, one assist, two blocks and two steals across 33 minutes.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old forward led the Grizzlies in scoring and delivered at least 30 points for the first time since Dec. 28, and the third time this season. Jackson continues to produce excellent fantasy value at the defensive end of the court, recording multiple steals or multiple blocks -- or both, as he did Thursday -- 11 times in the last 15 games. Over that stretch, he's averaged 22.0 points, 6.3 boards, 2.3 blocks, 2.0 threes, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals.

While Memphis' 2023-24 was a disaster, Jackson's season was a mixed bag. Without Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart for nearly the entire campaign, Jackson averaged career highs in points (22.5), assists (2.3) and steals (1.2). However, his rebounding and shot-blocking took major steps back. His rebounds dropped from 6.8 per game in 2022-23 to 5.5 last year, while his blocks per game went from 3.0 to 1.6. Despite his size (6-foot-10), Jackson has never been a great rebounder, but the drop in defensive production is worrisome, as that was his main attraction in fantasy over the previous two seasons when he finished inside the top 30 in eight-category leagues. The Grizzlies returning to full strength in 2024-25 may help Jackson shift his focus back to defending the rim, but that would also mean his offensive numbers take a hit. There's always value in a player capable of hitting multiple threes and blocking multiple shots on any given night, especially in category leagues, but Jackson may never be a top-tier fantasy option.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Boston wants him
The Celtics could make a push for Jackson ahead of the trade deadline, according to NBA reporter Matt Moore.
ANALYSIS
"Multiple league sources have asserted something whispered in the wind for a long time: The Boston Celtics would love to add Jaren Jackson," Moore said. "But if Boston loads up a pick-heavy trade package with some nice talent or tradeable contracts for a Memphis team that would be starting over, does that get them there? Is anyone going to beat that offer for Jaren? Is Jaren's value better in a year under Tuomas Iisalo and next to Zach Edey, or worse?" If the Grizzlies do end up moving Ja Morant, Jackson could potentially be the next domino to fall for Memphis, though he certainly won't be cheap.
