Ellis had a terrific third NBA campaign with the Kings in 2024-25. He ended up with 80 regular-season appearances (28 starts), posting averages of 8.2 points, 1.5 assists, 2.7 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 0.8 blocks and 1.7 three-pointers on 48.9 percent shooting from the field. In just 24.4 minutes per contest, Ellis produced a ninth-round finish in standard nine-category leagues on a per-game basis. The Kings didn't make a ton of noise in the offseason despite some changes in the front office. DeMar DeRozan and Malik Monk were rumored to be on the trade block, but nothing came to fruition. Sacramento's big addition was presumed starting point guard Dennis Schroder, and the club also signed Russell Westbrook ahead of the regular season. The backcourt is certainly crowded when you throw Zach LaVine and Devin Carter into the mix, but Ellis certainly proved his worth in 2024-25 and has the talent to carve out a sizable role. With elite steal and block rates, Ellis has intrigue, but his ceiling just won't be that high until the Kings clear up this logjam in the backcourt. Read Past Outlooks
Signed a two-year, $2.8 million contract with the Kings in February of 2024. Contract includes $2.3 million team option for 2025-26. Kings exercised their $2.3 million team option in Ellis' contract for the 2025-26 campaign in June of 2025

Ellis registered 21 points (8-15 FG, 5-10 3Pt), one rebound, two blocks and three steals in 32 minutes during Saturday's 113-107 win over the Mavericks.

Ellis moved into the starting lineup for just the third time this season, casually dropping a season-high 21 points, including five three-pointers. While this was certainly an encouraging performance, it should be noted that Ellis had played a total of just 23 minutes in the previous three games, failing to score in all three. Managers could consider grabbing him in case this role sticks moving forward, while still keeping in mind he plays for Sacramento, where apparently, no one's role is safe.

"League sources believe the current price tag on Ellis is a protected first-round pick." Ellis has been in and out of Sacramento's rotation this season, leading many to wonder just how attainable he is.
