Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Moses Shirief-Lamar Brown, son of Malcolm Brown and Wanda Williams, was born in 1999 in New York City. Malcolm was a 6-foot-7 center who played in junior college. Brown played high school basketball at Archbishop Molloy in New York City. Before spending a year at UCLA, he also starred in the Under Armour Association Circuit, averaging 14.2 points and 8.6 rebounds for the New Heights AAU Program. At UCLA, Brown started 31 of the 32 games he played, averaging 16.6 points per 40 minutes. You can follow Moses Brown on Twitter @MosesBrown_ and on Instagram @Moses_tv. Brown spent his lone collegiate season with the UCLA Bruins, averaging 9.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. He also shot 60.7 percent from the field and 35.2 percent from the free throw line. In his first collegiate game, Brown posted 19 points, 17 rebounds and two assists in a win over Purdue-Fort Wayne. He went on to score in double-figures in 16 of 32 contests. Brown's best scoring effort of the campaign came against Saint Francis (PA) on Nov. 16 when he put up 23 points on 11-of-14 shooting. In Pac-12 play, he recorded 17 points and 10 boards during a Jan. 3 win over Stanford - one of his nine double-doubles on the season.

Plays seven minutes in debut
CIndiana Pacers
November 20, 2024
Brown had six points (3-4 FG) and four rebounds in seven minutes during Wednesday's 130-113 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Brown came off the bench in his season debut, playing seven minutes. With Indiana having lost both James Wiseman and Isaiah Jackson to season-ending Achilles injuries, Brown should be able to pick up consistent minutes playing behind Myles Turner. Brown has the ability to be a strong per-minute producer and could step into a larger role should Turner miss any time over the course of the season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2021
Brown will return to the Trail Blazers, the team that drafted him in 2019-20, for the upcoming season. Since then, he has spent time moving around the league, attempting to nail down a consistent role. He played a total of 36 games during the 2022-23 season for the Clippers and Nets, averaging 4.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.4 blocks in 8.2 minutes. While it is unlikely he has much value again this season, if there is one area where the Trail Blazers are lacking depth, it's the center position. Jusuf Nurkic will be the starter, but beyond that, it's really anyone's guess. Brown will be competing with John Butler and Ibou Badji, both of whom are also very raw. If Brown somehow manages to carve out a consistent 16-minute-per-night role, he could be worth a look as a streaming consideration for anyone needing blocks and boards.
After excelling in last season's G League bubble and being voted to the 2020-21 All-G League team, Brown burst onto the scene in the NBA with the Thunder. The long center started 32 of his 43 NBA appearances for the rebuilding franchise and averaged 8.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 54.5 percent from the field. The strongest part of Brown's game is his offensive rebounding. He averaged 6.0 offensive boards per 36 minutes last season and ranked a shocking 19th in total offensive rebounds (154) despite playing only 920 minutes. However, Brown may not be in line for that sort of role this season. He was dealt to the Mavericks during the summer, where he'll compete for minutes with Dwight Powell, Kristaps Porzingis, Maxi Kleber, Willie Cauley-Stein and Boban Marjanovic. That makes him a risky pick come draft day, and it's possible, if not likely, that the center will only be viable in deep leagues. Ultimately, he may be most valuable in keeper/dynasty formats, where managers can bank on the 22-year-old eventually finding himself in a better position later in his career.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could see significant role
CIndiana Pacers
November 20, 2024
Brown's signing by the Pacers on Monday comes in the wake of injuries to Myles Turner, James Wiseman and Isaiah Jackson, leaving plenty of open minutes in the frontcourt, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Brown hasn't seen meaningful minutes in the NBA since 2020-21 with the Thunder, but the 7-foot-2 center was posting strong numbers in the G League prior to signing with Indiana. Turner's calf injury may not be too serious, but Jackson and Wiseman are likely done for the season due to Achilles tears. The Pacers' current healthy options at center are Pascal Siakam and Obi Toppin, neither of whom offers the size and rim protection that Brown does.
