2025 Fantasy Outlook
Powell is coming off the best season of his career in 2024-25, which earned him some consideration for the All-Star Game. He averaged 21.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 3.0 three-pointers on a 48/42/80 shooting clip, though injuries slowed him down with 60 total appearances. In fantasy, he managed a seventh-round valuation in standard nine-category leagues on a per-game basis, making him an excellent pick late in 2024 drafts. Powell was entering the final year of his contract, and an extension was off the table with the Clippers preserving cap space, so he was flipped to Miami, where he's expected to claim the starting shooting guard role next to Tyler Herro at point guard. The Heat re-signed Davion Mitchell to back them both up, while Terry Rozier is on the trade block and seems to have run out of favor in Miami. Powell's usage rate was shy of 27 percent in Los Angeles, so it's asking a lot of him to match that in Miami next to Herro, Andrew Wiggins and Bam Adebayo. Powell could get close to that, however, and he'll be making a season-long case for a new contract in 2026. Additionally, Powell should handle extra ball-handling responsibilities for a bit, as Herro is likely to be unavailable for the start of the season due to offseason foot surgery. Powell's still not a standout fantasy producer outside of points and three-point shooting, so while he's poised for another top-100 finish, he may not be the right fit for certain roster builds. Extends 20-point streak
Powell generated 27 points (10-18 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and five assists across 33 minutes of Wednesday's 130-116 loss to Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Powell has now scored 20 or more points in seven consecutive games, and he's topped the 25-point mark four times in that stretch. The veteran wing has seemingly taken another step forward after setting a career high in points last season with the Clippers, and he's averaging 24.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game with the Heat on 47/47/94 shooting splits.

Powell played 76 games during the 2023-24 season, the most he has played since his 2016-17 campaign with the Raptors. Although he was largely healthy, the same cannot be said for his per-game production. He closed as the 164th-ranked player in standard leagues, delivering modest averages of 13.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.6 steals and 2.2 three-pointers. At 31 years old, Powell's role is somewhat up in the air. Paul George opted to take his talents to Philadelphia, which could open up more playing time for Powell. If he can get back to 30 minutes per night, Powell's offensive talent could shine again. During the 2021-22 season, he was a top-90 fantasy asset, averaging 19.0 points and 2.4 three-pointers in 32.4 minutes per game. This would likely be a best-case scenario, making Powell a sneaky late-round target. However, managers should keep in mind the Clippers also have Terrance Mann, Derrick Jones and Kevin Porter who will be vying for minutes in the backcourt, making the situation a tough one to gauge initially.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Interested in extension with Miami
Powell told reporters Friday that he is interested in staying with the Heat on a long-term extension, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Powell and the Clippers were in the midst of extension talks during the offseason before he was dealt to the Heat in July as part of a three-team deal with the Jazz. The veteran guard is currently eligible for a three-year extension worth up to $77.4 million. However, if he were to wait until Jan. 7 -- six months after the trade -- then he would be eligible for the four-year maximum valued at $128.5 million. Powell took on a larger role on offense in the absence of Tyler Herro at the beginning of the regular season, and the former averaged 24.0 points on 47.7 percent shooting through the first three games of his Miami tenure. Powell has missed the Heat's last two games due to a groin injury, which puts him in jeopardy of missing a potential revenge game against the Clippers on Monday.
