2025 Fantasy Outlook
In his fourth game of the 2024-25 season, Banchero dropped 50 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists, two blocks and a steal against the eventual Eastern Conference champion Indiana Pacers. He scored 31 points during Orlando's next game in Chicago but was forced to miss the following 34 contests due to a right oblique strain. The injury obviously impacted Banchero's bottom line in fantasy. However, even when on the court, his inefficient shooting and lackluster defensive production stopped him from being an elite per-game producer in category leagues for a third straight season to start his career. Jalen Suggs also missed the majority of the campaign due to injuries, and despite the trio of Suggs, Banchero and Franz Wagner appearing in only six games together, the Magic made the playoffs. They head into 2025-26 believing they're contenders after trading Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for Desmond Bane and signing Tyus Jones in free agency to replace Cole Anthony. The entire starting lineup is locked in until at least 2028-29 after Banchero landed a five-year rookie max extension this offseason. The talent is ever-present, and Banchero has shown a knack for improving across the board each summer, but until he fixes his obvious flaws, the youngster is better suited for points leagues. No timetable for return
Coach Jamahl Mosley said Thursday that Banchero (groin) is without a timetable to return, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
"They don't put timelines on it," Mosley said. "As he recovers from each session, we'll go from there." Banchero will be sidelined for a fourth straight game due to a left groin strain Thursday against the Clippers, and it doesn't sound like the Magic are expecting an imminent return.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
2022
Banchero improved in multiple areas during Year 2, notably increasing his scoring production by becoming more efficient from deep and elevating his playmaking. However, both areas still need work, as he shot only 33.9 percent from deep and committed 3.1 turnovers to 5.4 assists per game. Banchero was named to his first All-Star team last season and has the makings of a superstar if he continues on this trajectory, but the team around him will also have to improve if he wants to reach that level. Franz Wagner is a solid No. 2, especially if he can bounce back from a bad three-point shooting season in 2023-24. In the frontcourt, Jonathan Isaac and Wendell Carter have struggled to stay healthy, while Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony and Gary Harris have provided inconsistent production in the backcourt. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope replaced Markelle Fultz, and the sharpshooting veteran should be a great addition to a team that shot 30.9 percent from deep last season. If the pieces around Banchero can be more consistent, the 6-foot-10 point forward could flirt with an All-NBA nomination.

No timetable for return
Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said Thursday that Banchero is without a timetable to return, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
"They don't put timelines on it," Mosley said. "As he recovers from each session, we'll go from there." Banchero is sitting out for a fourth straight game Thursday against the Clippers with a left groin strain. He continued to do non-contact, weight room work at Thursday's morning shootaround, and it doesn't appear as though a return is imminent. Banchero could earn a significant raise if he makes an All-NBA team this season, but he'd only be eligible if he appears in at least 65 games, making this a situation to monitor closely.
