Having recently withdrawn from the FIBA World Cup, Rubio continues to spend time away from basketball, instead opting to focus on his mental health. Although the veteran could be a key piece for the Cavaliers this season, his role remains clouded at this point. The rigors of being a professional basketball player for so long would certainly contribute to Rubio's decision, and of course, the Cavaliers are going to give him all the time he needs before a decision is made regarding his playing future. He is not someone to be drafting, but if and when he gets back on the court, he could pop up on the streaming radar for anyone requiring a cheap source of assists and steals.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Could be traded by Cleveland
The Cavaliers may attempt to trade Rubio, whose NBA career is currently paused to focus on his mental health, ahead of the February deadline, Frank Urbina of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Recent reports suggested that Rubio may not play in the NBA again, but the Cavaliers may attempt to find a trade partner in the coming weeks so that front office could organize a buyout of his contract. The 33-year-old at least isn't expected to return during the 2023-24 season, and the Cavaliers could attempt to package him into a larger trade as salary filler to get him off the books.
