2025 Fantasy Outlook
After missing the entire 2024-25 NBA season nursing a torn left ACL, Bey was flipped to the Pelicans during the offseason. By all accounts, his recovery has gone well, and he's expected to be ready in time for Opening Night. Bey holds career averages of 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.2 three-pointers and 0.8 steals while shooting 35.2 percent from beyond the arc. The Pelicans have some serious talent on the wings in Trey Murphy and Herb Jones, so Bey figures to slot in behind both of those guys. That's probably ideal for him anyway, as he'll need to be eased back into things after such a lengthy rehab. At least initially, Bey may be someone that fantasy managers will want to track from the waiver wire instead of using a late-round pick on him in deeper formats. Read Past Outlooks
Sharp at free-throw line in return
Bey (hip) recorded 17 points (4-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 8-10 FT), four rebounds and two assists in 32 minutes Tuesday in the Pelicans' 122-116 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Cleared to play for the first time since Dec. 31 after missing the previous six games due to a right hip flexor strain, Bey stepped into the starting five in his return and seemingly operated without a minute restriction. Thanks to a productive showing at the free-throw line, Bey finished second in scoring on the Pelicans to only Trey Murphy (31 points). The 26-year-old offered little else in the peripheral categories to supplement his scoring, however, and his overall fantasy value and minutes will likely take a hit once the Pelicans get Herbert Jones (ankle) back from injury.

Bey suffered a left ACL tear in March of 2023 and is unlikely to be ready for the start of next season. However, this didn't stop the Wizards from signing the 25-year-old forward to a three-year, $20 million contract this offseason. Even when available, Bey had a down year in 2023-24, averaging 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 63 appearances, including 51 starts. While the counting stats were solid, his efficiency was poor. Bey shot 41.6 percent from the field and converted just 31.6 percent of his 5.7 three-point attempts per contest last season. Even with the departure of Deni Avdija, Bey will still have plenty of competition for playing time in Washington's forward rotation when he is ready to take the court, as Kyle Kuzma, Bilal Coulibaly and Corey Kispert will all be vying for minutes. With Bey likely to miss a large chunk of the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign, fantasy managers should only draft him if they plan on stashing him on the IR to provide a scoring boost later on in the campaign.

Praised by head coach
Pelicans head coach James Borrego praised Bey's play this season in his return from an ACL injury, according to Rod Walker of NOLA.com. "He's been incredible all year," Borrego said. "He's built for these moments. He doesn't shy away from it."
ANALYSIS
It's unclear if Bey fits in the Pelicans' long-term picture, but even if he doesn't, he's playing well enough to attract some interest before the Feb. 5 trade deadline. He's averaging 14.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists while starting 24 of the 32 games he played this season.
