2025 Fantasy Outlook
After a promising 2023-24 campaign, Fontecchio's role with the Pistons was subdued last season, ending with averages of just 5.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointers in 16.5 minutes per game. Detroit subsequently decided to move in a different direction, moving him to Miami during the offseason in return for Duncan Robinson. The change of scenery is unlikely to warrant any significant changes when it comes to opportunities, with Fontecchio likely battling for backup minutes behind the likes of Andrew Wiggins and Bam Adebayo, both of whom are entrenched as the starters. Jaime Jaquez, Haywood Highsmith and Nikola Jovic are also still around, complicating matters further. Read Past Outlooks
Drops 13 off bench in loss
Fontecchio racked up 13 points (4-7 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and one steal over 19 minutes during Wednesday's 130-116 loss to the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Fontecchio has now logged consecutive appearances of three or more three-pointers made, averaging 11.5 points and 2.5 threes on a blistering 50 percent clip from beyond the arc. Fontecchio should continue to get looks from the three-point line, and despite coming off the bench, he is Miami's best long-distance shooter.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
The Jazz traded Fontecchio to the Pistons during the 2023-24 season. That move turned out to be great for the Italian wing, who enjoyed a more significant role with Detroit until he suffered a toe injury that kept him away from the hardwood from March 17 until the end of the season. The small sample size was enough to create excitement in fantasy managers, however, as Fontecchio went from averaging 8.9 points and 3.5 rebounds across 23.2 minutes per game in Utah to delivering 15.4 points and 4.4 boards across 30.3 minutes per contest in Motor City. Fontecchio is rehabbing from the same toe injury that sidelined him at the end of the season, but he's expected to be fully healthy and available by the time the 2024-25 season starts. While he might open the season as Tobias Harris' backup, there's a strong chance Fontecchio's role will grow as the season progresses. Even if he stays in a bench role, Fontecchio's scoring figures and efficient shooting -- he made 40.1 percent of his threes in 2023-24 -- should be enough to make him a viable target, even as a waiver pickup, in category-based leagues and deeper formats. Ultimately, Fontecchio's role will determine just how much upside he will have.

Making most of minutes
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has liked what he's seen from Fontecchio so far this season, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
"For us, it's a different option," said Spoelstra. "We like his competitiveness. He, obviously, can really shoot the ball, but he's not limited to that. He's able to do other things like put the ball on the floor, fly off screens or just space off of your better players. We're just really thankful that we have him with us." In the opening two games of the regular season, Fontecchio played 21.2 minutes per contest with 13.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.5 three-pointers per contest.
