2025 Fantasy Outlook
After a promising 2023-24 campaign, Fontecchio's role with the Pistons was subdued last season, ending with averages of just 5.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointers in 16.5 minutes per game. Detroit subsequently decided to move in a different direction, moving him to Miami during the offseason in return for Duncan Robinson. The change of scenery is unlikely to warrant any significant changes when it comes to opportunities, with Fontecchio likely battling for backup minutes behind the likes of Andrew Wiggins and Bam Adebayo, both of whom are entrenched as the starters. Jaime Jaquez, Haywood Highsmith and Nikola Jovic are also still around, complicating matters further. Read Past Outlooks
Provides spark off bench
Fontecchio notched 13 points (5-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals across 27 minutes during Monday's 135-112 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
The eight boards were a season high for Fontecchio on Monday. The sharpshooter is working his way back into the favor of head coach Erik Spoelstra, as Fontecchio has played at least 17 minutes in three consecutive games after falling out of the rotation in the Jan. 13 win over the Suns. Fontecchio's increased playing time has coincided with Tyler Herro (ribs) being unavailable again.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
The Jazz traded Fontecchio to the Pistons during the 2023-24 season. That move turned out to be great for the Italian wing, who enjoyed a more significant role with Detroit until he suffered a toe injury that kept him away from the hardwood from March 17 until the end of the season. The small sample size was enough to create excitement in fantasy managers, however, as Fontecchio went from averaging 8.9 points and 3.5 rebounds across 23.2 minutes per game in Utah to delivering 15.4 points and 4.4 boards across 30.3 minutes per contest in Motor City. Fontecchio is rehabbing from the same toe injury that sidelined him at the end of the season, but he's expected to be fully healthy and available by the time the 2024-25 season starts. While he might open the season as Tobias Harris' backup, there's a strong chance Fontecchio's role will grow as the season progresses. Even if he stays in a bench role, Fontecchio's scoring figures and efficient shooting -- he made 40.1 percent of his threes in 2023-24 -- should be enough to make him a viable target, even as a waiver pickup, in category-based leagues and deeper formats. Ultimately, Fontecchio's role will determine just how much upside he will have.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May be moved
Fontecchio has surfaced as a possible trade chip due to his expiring contract and reliable three-point shooting, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Rival teams value his floor spacing and short-term financial flexibility, so this makes some sense. He could be included as a secondary piece in a larger deal, and if the rumors about Ja Morant possibly joining the Heat are true, Fontecchio would likely be shipped to Memphis as part of that trade.
