Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Davis was born May 16, 1997 to parents Trinita Smith and Terence Davis. He attended high school in his home town of Southaven, Mississippi, where he was a standout in both football and basketball. On the gridiron, Davis was a four-year letterwinner as a wide receiver, racking up 1,062 yards his senior season. In basketball, Davis averaged 22.8 points and 8.2 rebounds as a senior, earning first-team all-state honors from the Clarion Ledger. Davis received offers from Cincinnati, LA Tech and Memphis, but ultimately chose Ole Miss, where he was a general studies major with interest in education, legal studies and recreation administration. You can follow Davis on Twitter @TerenceDavisJr. Davis enjoyed a productive four-year career at Ole Miss, appearing in a total of 121 games (82 starts). He was limited to a reserve role his freshman season, but Davis emerged as a scorer his sophomore year. His 14.9 ppg average across 36 games (26 starts) was good for seventh in the SEC. The scoring dipped slightly in Davis' junior year, but he managed career highs in rebounding (6.2 rpg) and assists (2.1 apg). As a senior, Davis jumped back up to 15.2 ppg, ranking 10th in the conference and helping him earn second-team All-SEC honors. When it was all said and done, Davis concluded his career with 1,512 total points, good for 12th in school history. His 140 steals would good for 10th in program history. It wasn't enough for Davis to get selected in the 2019 NBA draft, but he caught on with the Nuggets for Summer League and signed a two-year deal with the Raptors shortly after that.

Achilles
January 17, 2024
Davis will miss the remainder of the season due to a ruptured Achilles, Cyro Asseo de Choch of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Davis suffered the injury in the Rip City Remix's 126-122 win over the Salt Lake City Stars on Jan. 4. The 26-year-old said he sustained a complete rupture of his upper Achilles, but he expressed optimism on recovering in time for the start of NBA training camps in the fall. Prior to spending this season in the G League with Rip City, Davis averaged 6.7 points per game across 64 appearances with Sacramento in 2022-23.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could head to Europe
FRip City Remix   G League (Trail Blazers)
August 16, 2023
Davis could get a contract offer from FC Barcelona if he doesn't sign with an NBA club soon, Arale Weisberg of WallaSport reports.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old forward played 64 games for the Kings last season and averaged 13.1 minutes a night, but Sacramento renounced Davis' rights in July to clear cap space, and he hasn't found a new home yet. Barcelona signed Jabari Parker earlier this month to a one-year deal worth about $2 million that includes an NBA opt-out, and Davis would presumably receive a similar offer.

Before undergoing season-ending wrist surgery, Davis had been able to string together a handful of positive performances. In fact, over a four-game stretch, he managed to put up averages of 22.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 3.8 triples. These numbers are unsustainable when projecting his long-term value, especially given the Kings will be at full strength entering the season. However, the Kings are far from a reliable source of consistency, so he could land a more substantial role at some point. If that is the case, he would be worth considering as a short-term pickup, even in moderately competitive formats.
Davis spent the first part of last season with the Raptors before being moved to the Kings at the trade deadline. He saw an increase in workload when in Sacramento, though that was partially fueled by the Kings dealing with injuries. He saw 21.5 minutes per game and averaged 11.1 points on 44/37/78 shooting, 3.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals. During free agency, Davis and the Kings agreed to a two-year deal. His path to playing time isn't easy, but there's a path to him seeing roughly 20 minutes per game, especially if coach Luke Walton deploys more small-ball lineups. Davis will be competing for backcourt/wing minutes with rookie Davion Mitchell, Buddy Hield, Tyrese Haliburton, Maurice Harkless and Harrison Barnes. That means Davis will have to make massive strides to start seeing enough minutes -- in the 25-plus range -- to become fantasy relevant in standard leagues. That's possible, but it's probably not realistic enough for him to be drafted inside the top 200. He's more intriguing in dynasty/keeper leagues at this point.
Davis settled into a fairly reliable role off the bench as a rookie, converting 45.6 percent of his shots and 38.8 percent from beyond the arc while also knocking down 86.4 percent of his free-throw attempts. The rookie's efficiency from around the floor netted him 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest in 16.8 minutes. This season, Davis could see more playing time as a result of Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol changing teams. That should open up more time at power forward for Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, subsequently opening up time on the wing for Davis and also Norman Powell. If Davis can find minutes in the mid-20s, he could have fantasy relevance. When seeing at least 20 minutes last season, he averaged 15.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.9 threes and 2.3 assists in 25.7 minutes.
