Drafted by the Knicks in the second round last year, Antetokounmpo spent last season in the D-League, where he averaged 13.9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks in 33 minutes per game. At 6-7, 215 pounds, Antetokounmpo boasts freakish athleticism and a non-stop motor that allows him to excel on the defensive end. In fact, the 23-year-old earned Second Team All-Defensive honors in the D-League last season. While that defensive mentality is undoubtedly Antetokounmpo's calling card heading into training camp, his offensive game is incredibly raw and mostly reliant on his leaping ability around the rim. Such limitations have inhibited Antetokounmpo from being considered an NBA-level player, which he'll need to prove he is in order to make the Knicks' regular season roster. Obviously still developing, Antetokounmpo probably won't receive enough minutes this season to warrant fantasy ownership in the vast majority of leagues.
The 6-7, 215 pound Greek forward was selected 51st overall in this year's draft after playing 50 games for the D-League's Delaware 87ers last season. Despite averages of 12.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.3 blocks in 29 minutes per game, Antetokounmpo is still seen as a raw prospect that requires further development in order to crack an NBA rotation. With that in mind, the 22-year-old may spend the upcoming season overseas to gain more consistent playing time against competition superior to what the D-League offers. While going abroad is ultimately the expectation for Antetokounmpo during his rookie season, he will attend the Knicks' training camp this fall before a final decision on his future whereabouts is made.
