In one of the closer polling results, Edey edged out Houston's Reed Sheppard 8-5 as the projected favorite to be the league's best rookie, with four other players also receiving votes. Edey is stepping into a potential starting role at center for the Grizzlies, and while his Summer League participation was cut short by a minor ankle injury, the 22-year-old Purdue product is expected to be fully healthy for training camp.
