Double-double in starting role
Nnaji contributed 11 points (4-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 37 minutes during Friday's 102-100 win over Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Nnaji had topped 30 minutes just once this season entering Friday, but with both Jonas Valanciunas (calf) and Nikola Jokic (knee) sidelined, the 25-year-old was pressed into a starting role, logging 37 minutes and recording his second double-double of the season in a win. While he's likely to shift back to a bench role behind Valanciunas as soon as Sunday, productive minutes from Nnaji at center would be valuable as Denver continues to navigate Jokic's extended absence.

2020
Entering his fourth season in the NBA, it's make or break for Nnaji, who has yet to carve out a consistent role for himself. He finished well outside the top 300 in standard leagues for the third straight season, averaging 5.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 13.7 minutes per game. Despite the loss of Jeff Green and Bruce Brown, it's hard to envisage a situation in which Nnaji plays more than about 15 minutes per night, outside short-term periods as a result of injuries to other players. He is still only 22 years of age, meaning the scope for him to improve does exist, albeit on a small scale.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Emerging as defensive stopper?
Nnaji was part of the closing lineup in the Nuggets' win over the Pelicans on Wednesday and could earn a key defensive role off the bench going forward, Bennett Durando of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Nnaji started in Aaron Gordon's place and then was part of the closing lineup after Nikola Jokic fouled out. His defensive impact was noticeable, as Zion Williamson shot just 2-for-7 from the field when guarded by Nnaji, per NBA.com. Don't be surprised if Nnaji earns a bigger role off the bench going forward.
