Reaves was diagnosed Friday with a Grade 2 left gastrocnemius strain and will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks,
Dan Woike of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSISReaves had previously missed three straight games earlier this month due to a calf strain before returning to action Tuesday. He made it through the Lakers' 132-108 loss to Phoenix that day no worse for the wear, but Reaves appeared to aggravate the injury in Thursday's 119-96 loss to the Rockets and will now be sidelined for an extended period. The loss of Reaves will likely open up a spot in the starting five for
Marcus Smart, who should also be in line for an uptick in minutes as he moves up to the top unit. The Lakers could also open up a spot in the rotation for either or both of
Dalton Knecht and
Nick Smith while Reaves is out of commission.
