Most teams are playing five games in the Wednesday-Tuesday period that opens the season. Pittsburgh only plays four games. Here are their mound opponents:

vs PHI (Halladay)
vs PHI (Lee)

vs PHI (Worley)

at LA (Kershaw)

So in those four games, the Pirates get to face arguably the three best starting pitchers in the National League. If their run total in Week 1 is simply in double-digits, they should consider it a moral victory.

If you're in a head-to-head league with any kind of bench depth, or really any league with any kind of bench depth, this would seem to be a good time to sit any and all Pittsburgh hitters down and take your chances with a lesser bat playing an extra game, and against less gobsmackingly awesome hurlers.
