According to Shreyas Laddha of The Kansas City Star, Shelby has plans to redshirt his 2024-25 season. Shelby will need to wait to make his Jayhawks debut in their 2025-26 season. The 6-foot-3 junior appeared in 30 games with Rice last season, averaging 3.9 points, one rebound and 0.8 assists on 11.8 minutes per game. Shelby is likely to be a depth piece for KU this season.
